Discernment Houses
Prayer Lodge | Nia Kuumba

The Northern Cheyenne and Crow women of Prayer Lodge, Native American Discernment House, are committed to the on-going creation of community living; to providing a place for prayer, healing and discernment; to manifesting their participation with Mother Earth in the life cycles.

Prayer Lodge offers opportunity and atmosphere needed for seclusion, quiet, discernment and meditation. It also provides a place where Native American women can come often to pray, plan, work, play together.

Here, those who gather value working together to plan meaningful experiences for those who come, and Native American women understand that enjoying each other plays a significant part in coming to know their own spirituality.

Prayer of a Cheyenne Woman:
"Creator hear us, hear our prayers for our women and their needs. In these troubled, hard times many have lost their way and have turned their hearts from you. In your mercy help them to know your presence within them strengthen their spirits so they may blossom and grow and your love will shine in their eyes.

May they relearn their traditional ways and also learn the Gospel way. May they use these ways to make their journey more beautiful and true. May they share this knowledge and experience with your people and bring blessings to all people in this way."
