Meet Melissa Jacobs

Melissa was born and raised on a family farm outside of Oldenburg. Her father was an electrician and farmer, and her mother was a homemaker and farmer’s assistant. She has three sisters and one brother. Her sister Rosie also works for the Sister in the Food Service Department.

Melissa has been married to her husband Carey for almost 32 years. They have two sons, 28 and 23. The also have one dog, one cat, and nine ornery goats.

Prior to working here, she retired from an office supply business after being there 35 years.  Melissa has been with the Sisters for 2-1/2 years in the housekeeping department.

She enjoys interacting with the sisters. Sometimes after work, she is part of a group of co-workers who will take some of the Sisters from St. Clare Hall out for a walk and ice cream, and the Sisters really enjoy this. Recently, she brought in one of her baby goats to visit with the Sisters. A good time was had by all, as many of the Sisters enjoyed holding the goat and watching it perform for them.

Melissa has enjoyed teaching 3rd grade religion class for the past 14 years. She is also a member of the Daughters of Isabella. Some of her roles include Social Committee and working on fundraisers.

Melissa would like to visit the Grand Canyon in the near future. We think this would be a well-deserved trip for her and appreciate everything she does for the Sisters both during work and on her personal time.
